Contradictions

I’ve seen this kind of mixture many times in shops around Harajuku & Shimokitazawa in Tokyo and around America Mura in Osaka.

If you’re used to taking a coffee break because of long hangs every time you fire up Windows Explorer, the How-To Geek weblog suggests turning off network folder and printer searching in Explorer’s…

My husband and I recently bought a dishwasher. I know, imagine the excitment. But what my hubby really wanted was the Asko HomePub refrigerator/freezer.
It looks like any other top-of-the-line Scandinavian fridge, except instead of dispensing water and ice, it comes with a with built-in draught beer system.

Who could have imagined that even garbage could look chic? Apparently Ecoist did, which is why their purses and other accessories made from recycled newspaper, original candy wrappers look so stunning. The assortment includes very usable items such as the Jumbo Coin Pouch ($22), the Jumbo Anything/Everything bag ($28), and the Shoulder Bag ($58). Their Confetti collection (my favorite) also has bracelets and lovely placemats ($68). Many of the accessories (such as the Luna Bar collection) are limited, so you need to order pretty well in advance if you want to grab them for the gifting season.

Every room of my house looks like an AC adapter battleground- some chargers have no cords, some don’t have plugs, and others are simply waiting for a spare outlet so they can finally get some juice. This Driinn mobile device charger holder won’t really solve my problem of simply having way too many gadgets, but it will help calm the chaos a little bit. The Driinn serves two purposes: it works as a cord manager to keep your cables untangled, and there’s a built-in shelf for your phone or mp3 player to rest on. Nothing will make a charger into a work of art but the Driinn definitely can help it look like less of an eyesore. And it protects your precious devices from being stepped on or dropped.
The Driinn mobile device charger holder is $10 and comes in black, lime green, and red orange. Available from Spoon Sisters.

If your sweet tooth felt jilted by Vavolo’s Freshly Baked USB drives, then you’ll love the company’s adorable new Frosted Donut series.
Each chocolate, strawberry, and green tea (yum?) donut measures 2.6″ x 1.4″ 1.4″ and looks to be available for $3.63 . . . but only in bulk orders of 500. This isn’t much of a problem when you think about it, though. Since everyone would probably want one of each flavor, you’d really only need to round up 165.6666 of your closest pals to get a box.

And it seems that Toshiba still believes in the HD-DVD… Amazing, isn’t it? Anyway, here you are, and just for all you HD-DVD fan boys: the ultimate HD-DVD Video recorder, the Vardia RD-A301, which also features a 300GB internal HDD. Not only you will be able to record HD Video on your HDD or HD-DVD (MPEG-4 AVC/H.264), but also on regular DVDs and DVD-RAM (Mpeg-2).
On the back of your RD-A301 you will find ONLY 1 HDMI output, 1 D4, an Ethernet port and the usual S-Video and so on.

Oh, that’s what I call a nifty idea…; Nec has announced that they have successfully developed a wearable wideband antenna that can be used in clothing in order to increase your reception in areas with low reception levels. Pretty nice indeed, but what about the effect of having an antenna “glued” to all your clothes like this, and used each time you are wearing them, and having your mobile phone in your pocket?

I was giddy when I picked up my 16GB Corsair Flash Voyager flash drive all those many months ago, though I immediately anticipated the release of an affordable 32GB version (that endless cycle of always wanting more). No such news from Corsair just yet, but EDGE Tech Corp recently released a 32GB version of its DiskGO flash drive, a rather unassuming-looking little thing priced at $400. Though I’m not wildly compelled to buy this particular flash drive right this very minute, I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before the 16GB drive I have will seem “just too small.”

Web browsing on a mobile device can be an exercise in pure frustration. Even on my iPhone, I still find myself wishing for a quicker way to browse through sites (my fingers are still a bit clumsy on the on-screen keyboard), and still sometimes opt for mobile versions when they’re available (and I know about them).
Rocketshotz provides a fairly simple shortcut to mobile browsing, which is both useful and more aesthetically pleasing than regular bookmarks. The process is simple, with no software to download. You just go to the Rocketshotz website, sign up, then choose your mobile websites and place them within 5 different category icons. Your selections are sent (”blasted”) directly to your mobile browser (basically, you just navigate to the Rocketshotz mobile site with your preferences set). As you update and reorganize your icons, they’re instantly updated on your mobile.
