Frequently Asked Questions

The ABB Inora BL333-G is a single-gang CAT.6 data socket designed to provide a fixed network connection point for Ethernet cabling. Finished in Classic Grey, it is suitable for structured cabling installations in homes, offices, shops, hotels and other commercial or residential buildings.

When installed as part of a correctly specified CAT.6 channel, the socket is suitable for Ethernet data transmission at frequencies up to 250 MHz. CAT.6 cabling commonly supports Gigabit Ethernet up to the standard 100-metre channel limit and may support higher data rates over shorter distances, subject to cable quality, network equipment, installation conditions and testing.

It can be used for wired network outlets in villas, apartments, offices, meeting rooms, retail units, schools, hotels and other UAE construction projects. Typical applications include connecting computers, smart televisions, IP phones, wireless access points and other Ethernet-enabled devices to a structured cabling network.

Yes, it is suitable for indoor structured cabling applications in UAE residential and commercial developments when selected and installed in accordance with the project specification, local authority requirements and relevant telecommunications guidelines. Contractors should also confirm compatibility with the approved wall-box system, cabling category and consultant requirements before installation.

The outlet should be mounted in a compatible wall box or containment system. The CAT.6 cable is routed without excessive pulling, crushing or bending, the conductors are terminated according to the socket markings using either the T568A or T568B scheme, and the same scheme must be maintained throughout the installation. The socket is then secured, labelled and tested with an appropriate cable tester. Installation should be completed by a qualified structured cabling technician.

Either T568A or T568B may be used if the terminal markings support both schemes, but the selected pattern must be applied consistently at both ends of every cable link. T568B is common in many commercial installations, while the final choice should follow the UAE project specification, consultant instructions and the existing network standard.

Use genuine CAT.6 balanced twisted-pair cable with conductor type and shielding matched to the socket and project design. Solid-conductor cable is normally preferred for permanent building links. Before termination, verify whether the socket is intended for unshielded or shielded cable and ensure that all patch panels, patch cords and connectors maintain the required category and shielding configuration.

Data cables should be separated from power cables to reduce electromagnetic interference and to meet the applicable project and authority requirements. Where power and data routes must cross, they should generally cross at approximately 90 degrees. Use separate containment or suitable segregation, and follow the approved MEP drawings, manufacturer instructions and relevant UAE electrical and telecommunications regulations.

The socket may be used in concealed or surface-mounted systems when paired with compatible ABB Inora mounting accessories, wall boxes and faceplate components. Confirm the box dimensions, fixing points, installation depth and cable bend space before procurement, especially for precast walls, blockwork, drywall partitions, trunking and raised-floor service points.

Keep the socket and cable terminations protected from dust, paint, plaster, moisture and impact until final handover. Avoid installing active-facing components too early during finishing works. Cable ends should be capped or enclosed, wall boxes kept clean, and completed outlets covered until testing and commissioning are finished.

Each permanent link should be tested for wire map, continuity, pair configuration, length and performance using a calibrated CAT.6-capable certification tester. For formal project handover, contractors may also need results for insertion loss, return loss, NEXT and related parameters in accordance with the specified structured cabling standard, such as ISO/IEC 11801 or ANSI/TIA-568.

A properly installed CAT.6 link can carry both Ethernet data and Power over Ethernet for compatible devices such as IP phones, cameras and wireless access points. The complete channel, including the cable, outlet, patch panel, patch cords and network switch, must support the required PoE standard and power level. Cable bundling and heat management are particularly important in warm UAE environments.

This type of data socket is generally intended for dry indoor locations. For balconies, gardens, construction compounds or other exposed UAE environments, install it only inside a suitably rated weatherproof enclosure and use outdoor-rated or UV-resistant cabling where required. Verify the enclosure IP rating and project specifications before use.

Maintain the cable's pair twists as close as possible to the termination point, avoid untwisting or damaging the conductors, respect the specified bend radius and do not over-tighten cable ties. Keep the cable away from heat sources and electrical interference, use the correct termination tool, and test every installed link before commissioning.

The BL333-G is identified as a Classic Grey model. Compare the model number, colour reference and ABB Inora range details with the approved material schedule or interior design sample. Colour appearance can vary under different lighting, so a physical sample is recommended for large residential, hospitality or commercial projects.
