Features & Benefits

CAT 6 Network Connectivity

The integrated Category 6 RJ45 data outlet is designed for structured Ethernet cabling installations, providing a dependable connection point for computers, routers, switches, IP phones and other compatible network equipment in residential, commercial and light-industrial environments.

Single-Gang Configuration

The 1-gang format provides one dedicated RJ45 data connection in a compact footprint, making it suitable for individual workstations, offices, meeting rooms, retail areas, workshops and utility spaces where a single wired network outlet is required.

Metal-Clad Construction

The robust metal-clad faceplate is intended for demanding indoor locations where enhanced resistance to everyday knocks and wear is preferred over conventional plastic accessories, while also delivering a practical industrial-style appearance.

RJ45 Interface

The familiar RJ45 socket supports straightforward connection of compatible Ethernet patch cables, allowing network-enabled devices to access an installed structured cabling system without requiring specialist adapters at the user connection point.

ABB BM333 Model

Manufactured by ABB under model BM333, this data outlet is suitable for projects that specify coordinated ABB wiring accessories and provides clear model identification for product selection, installation planning and future maintenance.

Suitable for UAE Building Applications

The outlet is well suited to structured data installations in UAE homes, offices, shops and commercial premises. Installation, cable termination and testing should be completed by a competent technician in accordance with the project specification, local authority requirements and applicable UAE cabling practices.

Professional Structured Cabling Finish

By providing a fixed and clearly defined network termination point, the outlet helps create a neat, organised cabling layout and reduces reliance on loose or exposed cable runs, supporting easier device connection, troubleshooting and ongoing network management.

Frequently Asked Questions

The ABB BM333 is a single-gang metal-clad data outlet designed to provide one fixed RJ45 network connection for CAT.6 structured cabling systems. Its durable metal-clad construction makes it suitable for demanding commercial, industrial, workshop, warehouse and construction-related environments where a robust wall-mounted data point is required.

When correctly installed as part of a complete CAT.6 channel, the outlet can support Gigabit Ethernet applications, including 1000BASE-T, at frequencies up to 250 MHz. Overall performance depends on the cable, patch panels, patch cords, termination quality and total channel length. A standard structured-cabling channel should generally not exceed 100 metres, including permanent cable and patch cords.

The BM333 can be used for office workstations, warehouses, workshops, plant rooms, retail units, schools, commercial buildings, site offices and other locations requiring a reliable wired network point. It can connect computers, IP telephones, printers, access points, CCTV network equipment and other Ethernet-enabled devices, subject to the design of the network.

A metal-clad outlet provides greater resistance to everyday impact and wear than many standard plastic accessories. This makes it useful in high-traffic or operational areas such as workshops, service corridors, warehouses and back-of-house spaces. It should still be protected from severe impact, conductive dust, water and corrosive substances unless the complete installation has an appropriate environmental rating.

Installation should be completed by a qualified ELV or structured-cabling technician. Isolate nearby electrical circuits, fit the compatible back box or mounting enclosure, route the CAT.6 cable without crushing it, strip only the required amount of sheath, and terminate each conductor according to the outlet's marked wiring scheme. Secure the outlet without overtightening, maintain the cable bend radius, and test the completed link with a calibrated CAT.6 cable tester.

Use the wiring scheme specified in the approved project design and shown on the outlet's termination label or ABB instructions. T568A and T568B can both be used for structured cabling, but the same scheme must be maintained at both ends of every link. T568B is common in many commercial installations, although consistency and compliance with the project specification are more important than the selected scheme.

Use genuine CAT.6 cable that matches the project's structured-cabling design and the outlet's termination requirements. Solid-copper horizontal cable is normally preferred for permanent building links; copper-clad aluminium cable should be avoided. Select the correct U/UTP or shielded cable construction, conductor size, fire-performance classification and indoor or outdoor jacket according to the approved design and installation environment.

A correctly installed CAT.6 link may carry Power over Ethernet for compatible IP cameras, VoIP phones, access points and similar equipment. PoE capability depends on the network switch or injector, powered device, cable construction, connector compatibility, bundle size and heat management. The complete channel should be designed and tested for the required IEEE 802.3 PoE type rather than assuming compatibility from the RJ45 format alone.

Earthing or bonding requirements depend on the accessory design, back box, cabling system and applicable UAE electrical regulations. Where an earth terminal is provided or the project specification requires bonding of exposed metal parts, connect it using the approved protective conductor method. A qualified installer should follow ABB instructions, consultant-approved drawings and the requirements of the relevant UAE utility or authority.

It should not be treated as weatherproof unless ABB documentation and the complete enclosure confirm a suitable IP rating. For outdoor, wash-down, dusty or humid UAE locations, install the data outlet inside an appropriately rated enclosure with sealed cable entries and protection from direct sunlight, rain, condensation and sand. Consider UV-resistant cable, temperature limits and corrosion resistance when designing an external installation.

Keep data cables separated from power cables according to the approved ELV design, avoid tight bends and excessive pulling tension, and do not crush the cable with clips or ties. Preserve the pair twists as close as possible to the termination, avoid unnecessary joints, use compatible CAT.6 components and keep cable routes away from motors, drives and other electromagnetic interference sources. Proper labelling and certification testing are also essential.

The completed structured-cabling system should follow the project specification and relevant editions of standards such as ISO/IEC 11801, ANSI/TIA-568.2-D or EN 50173, where applicable. UAE projects may also require compliance with local authority regulations, approved fire-performance requirements, utility rules and consultant specifications. Product conformity and certification should be confirmed from the latest ABB BM333 technical documentation before approval.

After termination, test wire map, continuity, pair sequence and shield continuity where applicable. For project handover, use a calibrated CAT.6 certification tester to assess parameters such as insertion loss, return loss, near-end crosstalk and propagation delay. Record the outlet identification and retain the test report as part of the structured-cabling commissioning documents.

It may be suitable if the existing back box, mounting dimensions, cable category and termination arrangement are compatible. Before replacement, inspect the cable condition, available depth, fixing points and earthing provisions. Replacing only the faceplate will not upgrade an older CAT.5 or poorly installed cable link to CAT.6 performance; every component in the channel must meet the required category.

Periodically inspect the faceplate, fixing screws, RJ45 port and cable connection for looseness, impact damage, contamination or corrosion. Remove dust with a dry, non-abrasive method and do not spray liquid cleaner into the connector. If network performance becomes unstable, check the patch cord and active equipment before opening the outlet, then have the permanent link retested by a structured-cabling technician.
