System 3 is designed for smooth flow. Shake well and use straight from the tube for solid blocks, or thin with a drop of water or acrylic medium for washes and blends. For very smooth transitions, work in thin layers and allow each to dry before adding another.

Use Payne's Grey to model shadows in portraits, create atmospheric skies or distant landscapes, and build tonal values in realistic scenes. It’s excellent for underpainting tonal ranges, glazing darker areas, and dialing in mid-tones with other System 3 colours.

Work in thin, semi-transparent layers (glazes) over dry underpaintings. Start with a light wash to establish value, then apply Payne's Grey in progressively darker glazes to deepen shadows. Allow each layer to dry before applying the next to avoid lifting.

This is a water-based acrylic paint. Use in a well-ventilated area, wash hands after use, and avoid prolonged skin contact. If a skin sensitivity occurs, wash with soap and water. Keep the cap on when not in use to prevent drying.

Store upright with the cap tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid exposing the tube to extreme temperatures, and reseal promptly after use to preserve color and consistency.

Rinse brushes under running water immediately after use. Gently wash with mild soap if needed, then rinse until clear. Reshape bristles and let them dry flat or upright with bristles pointing down.

Start with a light underpainting to establish values, mix Payne's Grey with a warmer or cooler tone to map shadows, then layer progressively darker glazes. Finish with final highlights and refinements once the layers are fully dry.
