Frequently Asked Questions
What’s included in the Faber-Castell Water Color Pencils Fish Design Tin of 24?
The set comes in a round HangTab tin featuring a fish design and includes 24 assorted water color pencils. The cores are bonded for durability, and the tin has a numbered tray to help keep colors organized for easy return.
How do water color pencils work, and what makes them different from regular colored pencils?
Water color pencils work like regular pencils but are activated with water to create watercolor-style layers and gradients. You can use them dry for precise lines or with a brush and water to blend colors into transparent washes.
What does the term 'wet blend' mean in this set?
Wet blend refers to the ability to blend colors smoothly with water, producing clear gradients and soft color merges for richer watercolor effects.
What does 'bonded cores' mean for durability and sharpening?
Bonded cores are fused to the wood to improve break resistance, making the pencils more tolerant to sharpening and frequent use without the core cracking.
Is the tin design travel-friendly and protective for on-the-go use?
Yes. The sturdy round tin with HangTab design protects the tips during transport and is ideal for backpacks and totes, helping keep the pencils organized and ready to use.
How many colors are included and what’s special about the palette?
There are 24 assorted colors. The palette is designed to speed color selection and shading plans, giving you a broad, vibrant range for kids’ crafts and drawings.
How should I activate the color with water for best results?
You can lightly moisten the pencil tip and then apply color, or use a water brush to activate the pigment directly on your paper. Build intensity gradually for the desired effect.
Can I sharpen these pencils easily, and do they hold a point well?
Yes. The bonded cores help maintain a sharp point, and they sharpen smoothly. Regular sharpening is fine; avoid excessive force to preserve the core integrity.
How are the colors organized inside the tin?
The set uses a numbered tray inside the tin to simplify returning colors to their places and to help you locate and replace colors quickly.
What kinds of projects are ideal for these pencils?
They’re great for kids’ crafts, drawing, map shading, posters, and card making. You can create bold dry lines or soft watercolor washes, making them versatile for school and home projects.
How do these pencils compare to other watercolor pencil options on Fepy?
