Gyproc Duraline Moisture Resistant Plasterboard has been designed to offer a fire-resistant plasterboard solution for wet and humid areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens, where in the past it may not have been possible to use plasterboard in those areas.

The BBA certified Duraline Moisture Resistant Plasterboard measures 15 X 1200 X 2400MM and is designed to provide excellent resistance to moisture and steam, meaning it is an ideal solution for areas of high risk of mould growth.

The plasterboard offers a moisture-resistant paper facing made from up to 100% lime, which is then bonded to a cross-bonded gypsum core.

The Gyproc Duraline Moisture Resistant Plasterboard is designed to add an extra level of protection and strength to drywall walls or ceilings, making it a great choice for use in areas where extra protection is needed against the elements.

Frequently Asked Questions

Gyproc Duraline Moisture Resistant Plasterboard is a 15 mm thick board designed for interior wall linings in damp or humid environments. It features a moisture-resistant paper facing bonded to a gypsum core and is suitable for bathrooms, kitchens, and other high-humidity areas where traditional plasterboard may struggle with mould or moisture.

The board is 15 mm thick with moisture-resistant facing and a cross-bonded gypsum core. Common size formats include wide sheets up to 1200 mm and lengths reaching up to 2400–3000 mm, with a standard availability around 1200 mm width and variable lengths depending on stock.

Duraline Moisture Resistant plasterboard uses a moisture-resistant paper facing (largely lime-based) and a specially formulated gypsum core to offer better resistance to moisture and steam, making it more suitable for wet or humid areas than standard plasterboard.

It’s ideal for interior wall linings and ceilings in damp or humid spaces such as bathrooms and kitchens, or any area with a higher risk of mould growth, where improved moisture resistance is desired.

Prepare the timber or metal stud frame, cut boards to fit precisely, fix with appropriate corrosion-resistant screws, and stagger joints. Apply jointing compounds to tape and finish joints, then sand and prime before painting or applying tiles/other finishes. Ensure joints are properly sealed to maximise moisture resistance.

The board is designed for moisture resistance and has a moisture-resistant facing with a cross-bonded gypsum core. It is fire-resistant and BBA-certified, providing an added level of performance for use in areas with higher moisture exposure.

Compared with standard plasterboard, Duraline Moisture Resistant offers superior moisture and steam resistance, reducing mould risk in damp areas. Gyproc FireLine is optimized for fire performance, while Duraline focuses on moisture resistance; for damp environments, Duraline is typically the preferred choice over standard boards, whereas FireLine serves a different primary requirement (fire protection). See examples: Gyproc FireLine 12.5mm (https://fepy.com/product/gyproc-fireline-plasterboard-12-5mm-1200x2400) and Gyproc Standard Plasterboard 12.5mm (https://fepy.com/product/gyproc-standard-plasterboard-12-5mm-1200x2400).

Yes, Gyproc Duraline Moisture Resistant plasterboard is suitable for both walls and ceilings in moisture-prone environments, provided it is properly fixed, joined, and finished to maintain its moisture-resistant performance.

After installation, joints should be taped and skimmed with jointing compounds, then sanded smooth. You can prime and paint, apply a moisture-rated sealant, or tile over suitable adhesives depending on the final surface finish you plan to achieve.

While initial material costs may be higher than standard plasterboard, the enhanced moisture resistance reduces mould risk and potential maintenance in damp environments, offering long-term value by improving durability and reducing renovation needs in bathrooms and kitchens.

If you’re exploring alternatives, you can compare Gyproc FireLine (moisture-resistant with fire performance) and Gyproc Standard Plasterboard (basic option).
