Silver leaf can be applied to wood, glass and canvas, with surfaces properly prepared to ensure good adhesion.

1) Prepare the surface. 2) Apply Mont Marte Gilding Adhesive and let it reach tackiness. 3) Gently lay a leaf sheet over the adhesive using a soft brush or tweezers. 4) Carefully press and smooth the leaf to remove air bubbles. 5) Brush away excess leaf and, if needed, burnish edges with a soft cloth for a polished finish.

You’ll want a soft brush, Mont Marte Gilding Adhesive (recommended), a gilding knife or scissors for trimming, tweezers for handling, and a soft cloth or silk for burnishing.

If a tear occurs, apply a small patch of leaf over the damaged area using additional adhesive, then gently blend the edges with a soft brush. For larger areas, apply a new sheet and carefully overlap and blend with the surrounding leaf.

The adhesive typically reaches its tacky stage in about 15–30 minutes, depending on ambient conditions. Follow the adhesive’s instructions for the best results.

Store the sheets in their original packaging in a cool, dry place. Keep them flat or carefully stored to prevent curling or tearing, and protect from humidity.

Handle with care and, if possible, use gloves or tweezers when applying. Ensure proper ventilation when using adhesive and supervise children during the gilding process.
