National Paints Eggshell Emulsion (Silk) is a water-based acrylic copolymer paint that delivers a smooth, durable eggshell-silk finish. It offers strong adhesion, good color retention, and easy cleanup, making it ideal for interior walls and ceilings, and it can also be suitable for other surfaces with proper surface preparation.

The silk finish provides a soft sheen between matte and gloss, giving walls a refined, washable surface that hides minor imperfections better than a high-gloss finish while still being easier to clean than a flat paint.

It's designed for a variety of surfaces, including interior walls and ceilings and can be used on appropriate exterior surfaces with proper prep. Typical substrates include plaster, masonry, concrete, wood, and previously painted surfaces when properly cleaned and prepared.

On sound, well-prepared surfaces you may not need a separate primer. For very porous, stained, or dark-to-light color changes, or when coating difficult substrates, applying a suitable primer is recommended to improve adhesion and uniformity.

Start with a clean, dry surface. Remove dust, dirt, and grease; repair holes or cracks; lightly sand glossy areas to create tooth, then wipe away sanding dust. If switching from a dark to a light color or on very porous surfaces, consider a suitable primer and allow it to dry before applying the emulsion.

Stir well before use. Apply with a brush or roller in even coats, maintaining a wet edge to avoid lap marks. Usually 1–2 coats are sufficient, depending on color and surface porosity. Drying times are typically a few hours to touch (around 1–2 hours under normal conditions); recoat after 4–6 hours as recommended by the label. Full cure may take several days.

The paint is designed to provide excellent coverage, with color options spanning a wide range. Coverage varies with surface texture and porosity; check the product label for the exact coverage rate per coat and explore the color palette available on Fepy’s listing for this product.

It offers good resistance to fading, cracking, and peeling, with mildew and UV resistance help depending on exposure conditions. The water-based formula also tends to be lower in odor and easier to clean than solvent-based paints, making it suitable for frequent-use indoor spaces.

Once cured, clean gently with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh abrasive cleaners; for routine touch-ups or scuffs, you can spot-treat with a small amount of the same emulsion and blend in. Regular dusting helps maintain the finish.
