National Paints 4L Oxide Primer - Red

The primer has a red matte finish, with a volume solids of 53 ± 2% and a specific gravity of 1.53 ± 0.05 kg/L. The theoretical spreading rate is 17 - 13 m2/L, with a recommended dry film thickness of 30 - 40 microns and a wet film thickness of 55 - 75 microns.

The National Paints Red Oxide Primer is recommended as an anti-corrosive primer on steel surfaces in domestic and mildly corrosive environments.

The primer can be applied using airless, conventional, or brush. It requires 5-10% thinning for airless spray and 10-15% for traditional air spray. The recommended thinner is the National G.P. Thinner.

The primer has a touch dry time of 4 hours, a dry to-recoat time of 12 hours, and a hard, dry time of 24 hours at 30°C.

The recommended paint system is: 1 coat of National Red Oxide Primer (40 microns DFT), 1 coat of National Synthetic Undercoat (40 microns DFT), and 1-2 coats of National Synthetic Enamel Gloss I or Gloss II (35+ microns DFT per coat).

The primer has a shelf life of 18 months in original sealed containers when stored under proper conditions at 30°C.

Typically oil-based enamels or compatible acrylic topcoats pair well with this primer. Always test a small area to confirm adhesion and finish before committing to a large job.
